Vancouver hosts green meeting

A symposium aimed at helping people “go green” will be held in Vancouver next weekend.

The Be The Change symposium is being held next Saturday at the Canadian Memorial Church at Burrard and 15th Avenue.

“Be The Change helps people recognize they have the power to change and [that] the time to change is now,” said Maureen Jack-LaCroix, program director of Be The Change Earth Alliance.

“It’s grounded in straightforward actions and a practical process to reach our goals”

The symposium will encourage attendees to start action circles and action plans, hoping for 1,000 people to be engaged by October 2008.

The first phase will aim to reduce home/office energy consumption by 20 per cent, reduce auto travel by 20 per cent and increase the use of local/organic produce by 20 per cent.
